Didn't see a topic, so I created one. If one already exists, please link.
The devs asked for feeback on this: Dev Blog: Planetary Conquest
Ok, first off: Awesome. This is what I've been waiting for. This is why I bought an xbox360 when it was annouced that dust was console only, and then bought a PS3 when the game went PS3 only.
Next:
Quote:The Genolution Corporation is responsible for clone sales in select low-security regions beyond faction warfare space, and will supply initial access to the planets. They will also provide your initial starting planetary deployment, and assist with expansion onto neighboring worlds.
So, Genolution will be an NPC corp that sells clones and provides clone transport services, warbarges, etc. Interesting.
Quote:Controlling a single district will generate clones over time. If you end up producing more than you need, the excess clones can be sold for profit.
So, initially, the main resource of the planets will be human clones? That's a bit creepy, but ok, makes sense. The more territory I have, the more losses I can afford to take.
Quote:Each district replenishes its clone supply at a pre-configured time chosen by the owner. However, this also makes the district vulnerable to attack for an hour each day.
Good call. The corp can plan its vulnerable window for when it's player base is likely to be online, but attackers need to be more flexible. Stronger defense could allow for proto-carebear corps primarily selling clones on the market.
Quote:Cargo Hub: Provides a 50% bonus to clone storage Production Facility: Provides a 50% bonus to clone production Research Lab: Provides a 50% bonus to clone travel efficiency
There's a lot of implied functionality here. A district has a limit to the number of clones that it can store and therefore have available to defend it. What are the attackers' limits derived from? Clone travel can be more or less "efficient" what does that mean? Isk to travel? maximum range? travel time?
Also, please please please post concept art for these complexes.
Finally
Quote:Note that friendly fire will be enabled for infantry weapons, vehicles, and orbital strikes, so precise target calling is important.
Hahahhahahahah!!! Do you really trust your corpmate? I mean, really, really trust him? After all, he could call down an orbital on your platoon of HAVs at a critical moment and cost you the fight, expensive equipment, expensive clones, and key territory. Let the Eve-style background checks commence. We'll need that API, please.
